Porter at One Week

Friday, September 26, 2014

Porter is already one week old! So far, he is mostly a sleepy guy. He wakes often to eat, but is otherwise just sleeping. I feel like Harrison was more awake already at this point.  He is eating well and we haven't had any issues nursing.  Harrison is still getting used to him but is always asking to hold "Portie" or "baby".

This boy is so loud! He is constantly making noise and fussing and when he cries or screams, it is piercing.  Harrison was so mellow and quiet compared to Porter.  He sure likes to keep me up all night with his noises. I'm hoping I get more used to it soon so I can stop waking at every squeak and grunt.

I had a few nights of sleeping on the couch because it is the easiest way to sleep propped up and ready to feed.  Then, we figured out that Porter just likes to be warm - really really warm.  The night we figured that out, he slept for 6 hours straight. He did the same last night too.  He likes to be bundled up warm, but likes his arms out. He doesn't seem to really startle like Harrison did, so he doesn't need to be swaddled, which is nice. He is taking the pacifier pretty well but I don't know how long that will last. We will see how he takes bottles soon when we get the breast pump in the mail. I had always heard that you could maybe get one for free from certain insurances.  We looked into it and apparently I could get a $300+ Medela pump for free from my insurance! This should make it so much easier to give bottles when needed and especially when I'm taking clients again in a few weeks.

We sure love this little guy - can't wait to see who he turns out to be!

Porter loves to sleep with his hands behind his head.  I think he gets that from his Uncle Hunter.

See - Harrison Meets Porter

Friday, September 19, 2014

Porter was born in the morning, so Harrison was able to come and meet him when he was only a few hours old.  I was so excited for this when I was pregnant and we made sure to have Jesse take some photos of the occasion.  Harrison seemed really nervous about the hospital when he came, but we were so excited to see him and show him the new baby.

^^Harrison was a little shy at first - probably because Porter is such a loud screamer!^^

^^He warmed up a bit when he realized he could point out all of Porter's different parts - head, nose, eyes, ears, etc ^^

^^Harrison also liked taking out and putting back in Porter's pacifier ^^

^^We had gotten a book and some cars to give to Harrison as a present 'from' Porter.  I knew it would also give Harrison something to entertain him while Granny was babysitting.  these little construction trucks were a hit! ^^
