Bed taken apart and packed... so he's sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

Raleigh

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Well, it is official! We are moving to Raleigh, North Carolina! Like... next week.

Jesse got an offer from a great company and we are so excited about this opportunity for him.  We are so sad to be leaving family and friends and having to leave the home we love, but we are pumped to be going on this adventure together.  Things may be quiet on this blog for the next 2 weeks as I pack up the whole house, paint almost every room, repair several house issues and get the house ready to be listed for sale.

Overwhelming and stressful but so exciting!

Behind The Scenes

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

I wanted to document what it is like for me to get the photographs that I do.  Some days I am inspired to create a certain photograph, but many days I am at a loss and just observe the boys until I see something I want to document.  Today I had a few ideas and snapped a few while Porter slept and playing with Harrison. Here are all of the photographs I took (good and bad and some with missed focus, etc) this morning to get the few in the above 2 posts that I liked.

Time at the Temple

Spending time in the Palmyra Temple today was just what I needed to feel peace about the coming changes. So glad to live so close to a temple.

All of the Feelings...

Friday, March 20, 2015

First

Then

Then

And back and forth over and over again.

Change is coming for our family.

At the beginning of March we found out that Jesse's company got sold to a company from Atlanta.  A few days ago we found out they aren't keeping anyone on here in Rochester.  Jesse has worked so hard at this company for 7 years.  He has moved up the ranks, learned a ton and impressed many people.  He is an extremely hard worker and has been recognized for it - he has a lot of friends in the company and a lot of people have helped him as he tries to make a transition to another company.  He was very close to making the jump from NOC Technician to a Network Engineer, but now might have to start over again towards the bottom. Really frustrating.

He has done many interviews with many companies. We have some offers, some rejections and some people just never got back to us.  The best looking option for us right now is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The company looks amazing and we could see Jesse really flourishing with them.  He is headed down there for the weekend to meet everyone and get the offer.  So we would move.  We would have to sell or rent our house, like really soon.  Leave all of our family and support system and go to a place neither of us has even been before. It is a huge, scary leap of faith.

He has some offers here in Rochester, but the positions would be like he was first starting out and not a ton of room to move up in the ranks.  He wouldn't be very happy. But we could stay here.

Either way, he will be let go (along with the entire company) at the end of March, which is quickly approaching.

We are terrified, a tiny bit excited, extremely stressed and so unsure of what will happen for us.  It was super out of the blue and very scary.

We are losing sleep and praying really hard that we will find the best opportunity for us and that the other employees will find work as well.  It is a hard time for a lot of people.  We are grateful that we have a bit of money saved up and so much family here to support us.  We know that we will have people looking out for us here and would have support from Church members in Raleigh.  We are so blessed that he had a steady job for so long and that he has been able to grow and learn from them.  He has been given so many opportunities and worked with some amazing people. For everything we have been given over the past years, we are extremely grateful.
